03/17/2015 to 03/17/2015 – More than 2,500 guests will fill The Conference & Event Center Niagara Falls for the 33rd Annual St. Patrick’s Day Celebration, hosted by the Ancient Order of Hibernians.
The party features traditional Irish food and beverages, music by The Blarney Bunch, and Irish dance performances by the McCarthy School of Dance.
“This is truly the largest annual party of its kind in Western New York,” said Jason Murgia, general manager at the Conference & Event Center Niagara Falls.
Prior to the party, guests can experience the “World’s Shortest Parade,” at 4:45 p.m. The parade route begins about 75 steps away, from Old Falls Street at First Street into the entrance of The Conference & Event Center.
Advance sale tickets are being sold at B&B Cigars on Main Street and McCloud’s Pharmacy on Buffalo Avenue, in Niagara Falls; Always a Party on Military Road in the Town on Niagara; Cheri Amour on Center Street and Capitol Cleaners on Portage Road, in Lewiston; and at McNerney’s Irish Imports inside the Eastern Hills Mall.

03/21/2015 to 03/21/2015 – Melissa Ferrick, indie singer songwriter from Boston, MA, released 17 albums over the last 20 years. Melissa also teaches part time at Berklee College of Music.
Regarded as one of the most prolific & hardworking artists in the industry, Ferrick tours regularly and plays to packed houses across the U.S., performing upwards of 100 shows a year. She has shared the stage with Morrissey, Marc Cohn, Paul Westerberg, Dwight Yoakam, John Hiatt, Weezer, Tegan and Sara, G-Love & Special Sauce, Dan Bern, Ani DiFranco, k.d. Lang, Suzanne Vega, Shawn Colvin, Mike Doughty, The Indigo Girls and among many others.

The celebration will feature dozens of food trucks favorites, live music, and festive drinks including the much anticipated GREEN beer! Music by: McCarthyizm, Emerald Isle, Clann Na Cara School of Irish Dance, and Greater Buffalo Firefighters Pipe and Drum.

03/22/2015 to 03/22/2015 – Forest Lawn frequently highlights the beautiful architecture on its manicured landscape on the tours we offer, and many famous WNY architects are buried at Forest Lawn. So, it only made sense to highlight one of Buffalo’s gleaming assets, its architecture, in our winter programming. Hosted by Martin Wachadlo, an architect and expert on Buffalo’s stock of historic buildings, this four part series will give you an in-depth look at the Buffalo architectural and cityscape timeline, and will highlight some of our most famous architects, Esenwein & Johnson and Edward Brodhead Green, Sr. (Esenwein and E.B. Green are both buried in Forest Lawn)
Esenwein & Johnson was one of the most active architectural practices in Buffalo at the turn of the twentieth century. The talk will highlight the research Wachadlo did on this firm and will cover the many accomplishments of this dynamic architect duo.

Many jazz musicians started their careers in local venues such as the Colored Musicians Club, Shea’s and the Erlanger Theater. Hear about the musical adventures of such notable artists as Grover Washington, Sr., Bo Peep Green and saxophonist, Elvin “Shep” Shepard.
